Getting Setup on Windows:
Downloads:
  1. Download the VPN from here and follow the instructions here. You'll want to use your CFA username and NIS password.

  2. Download putty.exe and pscp.exe from here

  3. Download Xming from here - When installing, choose 'Don't install an SSH client'


Signing on:
  1. Now sign onto the VPN using your CfA username and NIS password
  2. Open putty and enter the hostname is cfa0.cfa.harvard.edu.

    Next, click the + sign next to SSH on the left hand side and select x11. Click on 'Enable X11 forwarding'.

    Next, on the Session Category (where you entered the hostname), click Save.

    Now click 'Open'. You should be able to log on using your CFA username and NIS password.

    Next time when you sign on, you should be able to load the saved session, so that you don't have to type the hostname and enable x11 forwarding.
