DASO Circular No. 83 Issued: 2007 Feb. 16, 00:07 UT The DISTANT ARTIFICIAL SATELLITES OBSERVATION (DASO) Circulars are a private publication by staff of the Minor Planet Center and are intended to disseminate astrometric observations of distant artificial satellites. Editor: Gareth V. Williams (gwilliams@cfa.harvard.edu) Astrometry submissions to mpc@cfa.harvard.edu (Subject line = "ART SAT") The identification of the observations below with WMAP is based solely on orbital elements derived from these observations and the resulting geocentric distances and solar elongations. The tracking of WMAP continues to be problematic, primarily due to our inability to obtain suitable coordinates for this object from any of usual sources for artificial satellite objects or from the operators of the satellite. Attempts to track WMAP ourselves are complicated by the occasional orbit corrections necessary to keep the object on-station.
