Following Close But Nearly Twice As Slow

Sept 11, 2005 - One Week
Stuck in limbo. But Greece was nice. I'll see about getting pictures up sometime, but who knows when I'll ever get around to it (scroll down, on the left for a preview image). Wow, I'm dead tired. And there's a Moby song in my head. Life's strange, sometimes.

Aug. 23, 2005 - Just Smile All the Time
Alright, that's one awesome trip down, one awesome trip to go. I visited the Superhero Supply Store, where I aquired a superhero name (the Quasi-Stellar Object) and super power (distensible jaw + burritos). I also did my first triathlon, which was fun/painful (ie. masochistic), camped out in the rain, visited Franconia Notch in the While Mountain National Forest, and kayaked a bit on Lake Horace near Weare, NH. Oh damn, and I almost forgot the most over-the-top Japanese Steakhouse ever, Mt. Fuji, which was located near Sloatsburg, NY. It dominated the hillside, and there were some fucking creepy decorations. Anyway, there are pictures. So now I'm departing again for the Research Training Network Summer School on Gamma-Ray Bursts (aka Greatest Conference Ever). And of course sometime after that I have to move to Chicago. Yeah, that one won't sink in until a week after the fact. And yet, in spite of the hectic schedule I still have time to find funny yet unsettling links.

Aug. 8, 2005 - We Can Rebuild It.
We can make it faster, stronger, better. We have the technology. Working toward a new webpage. Sort of, maybe. ... okay so mostly I'm just playing around with a few features. Big changes coming one day, just not today.

Aug. 5, 2005 - What's Good for You Isn't Always Good for Me
I'm rockin' pretty hard to an old Helium album, Pirate Prude, lately. Umm, still insanely busy. I saw Garden State for the first time last night. Good movie, good soundtrack. Why can't I find me one of them sweet epileptic girls? I'm dead serious, here. Anyway, I'm now sitting back and looking forward to a release of Junebug somewhere outside of NY and LA. It looks funny. In closing, I will now contribute to the effort to tell search engines where to go when they are asked to find intelligent design. Done and done.

July 29, 2005 - HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
So, Japanese craziness notwisthstanding, I ain't got time for no bullshit. I have to consider the possibility that I may be over=-whelmingly busy for the rest of my life, starting about a month ago. Time for another iChing - when iPod's tell the future (there is a key). I ask, are my best days ahead of me?
  1. The Covering: Godspeed You Black Emperor!, World Police and Friendly Fire
  2. The Crossing: Elliott Smith, Son of Sam
  3. The Crown: Bob Dylan, Hurricane
  4. The Root: Chris Isaac, Wicked Game
  5. The Past: Stereolab, Fiery Yellow
  6. The Future: Keane, Somewhere Only We Know
  7. The Questioner: Coldplay, Till Kingdom Come
  8. The House: Queen, Bohemian Rapsody
  9. The Inside: Yo La Tengo, No Return
  10. The Outcome: Bruce Springsteen, Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)

Wow, that's an all-star lineup. Bully for me. I'm interpreting this to be a pretty optimistic outcome - Wicked Game as the Root and Somewhere Only We Know as the Future seem particularly appropriate. And anytime you have The Boss as the Outcome that's got to be a good thing. Anyway, this is the weekend I kick my ass to get the PFIS Early Science proposal on SALT finished by Sunday. Who makes a deadline on Sunday?

July 25, 2005 - My Life Got Flipped - Turned Upside Down
I'm very very tired. In a good way, I think. Anyway, I made up this list of most of my favorite Dinosaur Comics recently. Hey now, don't make fun - I was just kinda bored is all. So, the list:
  1. we can sexy all night long
  2. SECRETS OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION
  3. the devil raises an interesting question
  4. Logical Fallacy Comics: the Straw Man
  5. the devil in: mmorpgs
  6. adjectiving is the new verbing
  7. criminal record: helicopter theft
  8. second base is first loser

Yeah, there were so many more, but I got bored with listing them. Ok then, I'm off to the beach for a few days.

July 18, 2005 - When I see you, I really see you upside down
So so busy lately. Alright - anyone here a big fan of South Carolina? Didn't think so. Don't get me wrong - there are some beautful areas in SC, but the state as a whole is kind of a pit. Why do I bring this up out of nowhere? Well, it looks like South Carolina might secede ... again. Really, I'd have to object to such an action solely to preserve the integrity of the US coastline. And it would look silly on maps to have a chunk missing out of our great nation. That said, the potential benefits of such an "exodus" are intriguing. Imagine if many of the most extreme conservatives from all across the country moved to South Carolina (with it's 2 senators + 6 congressmen = 8 electoral votes, plus maybe a couple more depending on how many loons were to relocate). I could live with that. Oh, also, no one tell me anything about Harry Potter VI - I haven't read it yet.

July 7, 2005 - Oh, distance has a way...
So what's up? As far as bad news is concerned, you've probably already heard about the recent London bombings. My good friend Jim has spent the last year in London doing something with economics (hopefully studying it), and my good friend Rory has family based in London. I am hoping that none of these people were anywhere near the attacks that occured today.

Also worth noting: I stole pretty much this entire page design from Thomas Jarvis, who, in turn, stole it from someone else. But fear not, you can rest assured that someone, somewhere knows what they're doing with html. It just isn't me.
