What Is The Employee Assistance Program?
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential evaluation and referral source for
Smithsonian employees experiencing personal problems. You can usually manage most of your
problems by yourself, or with the help of family and friends. But sometimes a serious and
persistent problem can affect your work or your relationship with your coworkers. The
program is available to assist you in recognizing and resolving these problems and offers both
counseling services and resources.
A variety of problems can interfere with your work performance and personal life:
- Alcohol and Drug Dependency
- Emotional Distress
- Family and Marital Crisis
- Financial Problems
- Medical Concerns
The most difficult part is asking for help. If you need help or would just like to talk, a counselorwould be happy to speak with you.
How Much Will It Cost?
There is no charge for counseling services for you and your family
members. If you need additional assistance, counselors will refer you to the appropriate resources.
