Adding or changing extended memory

0.
Remove the cover and all the ISA cards.
1.
Remove the two screws with teflon washers holding the orange ISA bus down.

2.
Remove the lower two screws next to the bottom ISA edge connector.

3.
Lift the ISA bus out of the way. Now you can access the upper spring locks on the SIMMs.

4.
Load the new SIMMs. In some cases you can mix the values in the two slots. You'll just have to try and see if it works.

5.
Be careful in reinstalling the ISA bus and the Ethernet card. If the Ethernet card is no longer recognized at LynxOS boot, then the ISA connectors may be damaged.

6.
When you reboot, skip the memory test but watch for the final value reported for extended memory.

7.
When you then run setup (F2), you might find that you cannot select the appropriate amount of memory. Scrolling up to the limit (64MB) will not turn over to 0MB, so you must go down if you overshoot the correct value. However, you may hit an artificial lower limit, in which case you must remove SIMMs until you can select the appropriate value. Then reload the same SIMMs and you should be on your way.
