      • To view the frequency spectral configuration -

        • inspects through all the data and variables, reporting N sets of frequency configurations given a data set

        • goes through the header, reporting the first frequency configuration detected, only good for single frequency configuration

      • To reduce the spectral resolution -

        • can handle spectral data in daul frequency configurations

        • bin spectral channels of a dataset, works only for single frequency configuration

    • Issue 4 - Miriad pre-processing SMA original data, archived and MIR-formatted
      • Pre-process 1 - converting data and make it ready for reduction with Miriad SMA-WB

        • identifies & fixes data issues, often requiring special patches from a programmer
        • converts MIR to Miriad format
        uvindex - Output: Miriad formatted data

      • Pre-process 2 - converting data and make it ready for reduction with other software packages adapting UVFITS and Miriad format

        • separates frequency configurations from a dual-RX mode
        uvaver -
        • extracts SWARM chunks (windows) to make the uv data adaptive to general Miriad tasks
        smafix -
        • applies system temperature corrections
        uvplt or smauvplt -
        • checks fringes in GUI
        uvspec or smauvspec -
        • checks spectra in GUI
        fits -
        • exports pre-processed (2 steps) SMA data to UVFITS for further calibrations in CASA/AIPS or other software packages
        Output: UVFITS and/or Miriad formatted data with Tsys corrections


    • Issue 5 - Calibration & imaging with globally distributed Miriad
      • Adapting uv data to other Miriad packages -

        • in Pre-process 2, spectral channels can be binned or spectral windows can be separated;
          the pre-processed (2 steps) SMA data are adaptive to other Miriad packages
          globally distributed via ATNF, BIMA/CARMA, and SMA (SMA-Miriad 1.5.1)

      • Calibration/imaging pipelines for data taken for a variety of science program -
        • swarmcali_a.csh
          • an example of C-shell script for calibration of ASIC data taken in hybrid-correlators (ASIC+SWARM)

      • CASA/AIPS UVFITS & FITS -
        • from Pre-process (2 steps), output UVFITS can be adapted for further reduction in CASA/AIPS and other packages
          • depending on users' choice
          FITS images exported from Miriad can be adapted for analysis in CASA/AIPS
