The Director of the Predoctoral Program is an independent resource for SAO Predoctoral Fellows and Visiting Students as needed during their tenures at CfA. In particular, Dr. Babb is available on one-to-one basis if necessary to discuss issues related to predoctoral fellows confidentially.
Although many SAO Predoctoral Fellows have the full support of their thesis advisors at their home universities, we feel that a Director is necessary for each predoc at the CfA for the purposes of evaluating their research work. Fellows in the SAO Predoctoral Program will have their research work evaluated annually by the Director as well as the Predoctoral Research Oversight Committee.
