About
Floor Broekgaarden is a PhD student at Harvard University, currently under a NASA FINESST and Harvard Horizons scholarship. Before joining Harvard she completed a B.S. degree in physic and mathematics from the University of Amsterdam in 2017, as well as an M.S. in Astrophysics in 2018. Her research focuses on "Gravitational Wave Paleontology:" using the collisions of black holes and neutron stars that we can observe with gravitational waves as "fossils" to probe the formation, lives, and explosive deaths of massive stars all the way to the edge of our observable Universe.
