About

Upon finishing my PhD at UW-Madison in Physics (plasma fusion research: magnetic turbulence, 1989) I learned of a position at CfA that would require reflectance measurements calibrations for the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF, now Chandra). I need to set up a synchrotron calibration program for AXAF and complete it for the full 0.05-12.0 keV photon energy range. By the time of Chandra's launch in 1999, we had completed this calibration, and it became the basis for the full HRMA calibration, which is central to Chandra. Since that time, I have been occupied maintaining the Chandra Calibration Database (CalDB) for the Chandra X-ray Center. Additionally I have participated in publications for the CalDB, Chandra Source Catalog, dust halo analysis, and supernova remnants.
